Father God, thank You for loving me. Thank You that although I may only think of You when I’m awake, You think of me all the time! Thank You! And thank You for guarding me while I sleep. No doubt you keep me from all sorts of things I’m unaware of, so thank You.
Also, thank You for the incredible blessings all around me. Let me not forget I can watch a sunset almost any day, feel the breeze when I’m outside, and listen to the birds. Thank You that when I hear children’s laughter I’m somehow filled with joy. I become so accustomed to these things I sometimes forget to enjoy them, so please cause me to find more pleasure in the things You’ve given freely.
Daddy God, I want to rest in You right now. I don’t want to labor or toil in Your presence, I just want to rest. Would You hold me and give me a sense of Your peace and presence? Would You cause me to relax in Your arms? I don’t really know how to, but You do, so please teach me what I don’t know. I have a deep longing to be held and loved by You.
Let me feel safe when I’m with You. Change me when on occasion I think You’re going to act like some of the mean and vindictive people I’ve known. Change my view of You so it is right and not skewed. I need You. And I don’t always view You as I ought, but I want to. So would You do in me what I can’t do myself? Or, show me what is right so I can change. But either way, today I just want to rest in Your arms.
While I’m here in this safe place with You, I give You the burdens I bear. You’re able to manage them better than I so I’d like You to have all of them. You’ve equipped me with a good brain but sometimes I’m just overwhelmed with all I have to do, all required of me, all my responsibilities … so I give them to you. And in return, give them back to me ordered. Made right. Not dominating me, but rather me dominating them in an appropriate way. Enable me to do what is mine to do. And what is not mine to handle, give me a willingness to let go. I need Your wisdom, discernment and empowerment. Give me grace to give everything to You so You can oversee me — and my responsibilities. Cause me to become willing to do what it is You’d like for me to do with these responsibilities, and to be nice about it.
Grant that I make the time and have the patience to sit here a few moments with You to enjoy Your company. Refresh me as I rest with You. Breathe Your life into me.
I really, really need You Lord God. I cannot do this life without You. Grant that I have the patience to sit here a few moments to enjoy Your company. Please refresh me as I rest with You and breathe Your life into me.
As I go about my day, let me see that You’ve refreshed me. Let me notice the difference because I spent time with You.
I ask these things in the name of Your Son, Father. Amen.
